Women in Logistics: Celebrating Women’s History Month

Blog

Over the last few years, the logistics industry has seen an increased presence of women in leadership roles. In a 2020 Gartner study of average proportions of women in supply chain leadership, it showed that 17% of chief supply chain officers are women, a 6% increase from 2019. Within our NTG team, we have experienced a growth in female leadership of 68.9% between 2018 and 2020.

With national organizations such as Women In Trucking Association, Inc. (WIT) and Achieving Women’s Excellence in Supply Chain Operations, Management and Education (AWESOME), women in this industry have access to resources including mentorship, networking community, continued education seminars and events. At NTG, we provide our team with an internal network through Women in Logistics – offering mentorship and professional development resources. As we look at this year, reshaping and continuing this effort will be a top priority for our People & Talent team.

For Women’s History Month, we’d like to highlight one of our female leaders. NTG named Joanne Bleavins as Chief Financial Officer in September of 2020 – tasked with overseeing all Finance and Accounting functions, while serving as a strategic thought partner within NTG’s executive team to help set, drive and execute growth and value creation plans. Joanne has worked in the financial industry for more than 20 years, beginning her career in audit at PriceWaterhouseCoopers and Bristol Myers Squibb. She then advanced to Fortune 500 company, Newell Brands, where she started her career in investor relations and progressed over 17 years in a variety of corporate and business unit leadership roles, being named the Chief Financial Officer – Baby Division. Joanne is an integral part of our team, and brings a fresh perspective to company conversations.

At NTG, we take pride in the hiring and mentorship of our female team members. Interested in seeing where we are hiring or want to learn more? Click here.
